Dear William Chrisman Class of 1969,

Harold and I thank you for a wonderful evening at Ophelia's.

The food was delicious but the visits with so many of you were even better.

We appreciate the memory book, too. The online photos have been viewed many times.

It is always a pleasure to see and hear from my Chrismanites.

Thank you, again.

Very sincerely,

Harold and Oneida Beeman Lorimer

Well, where do I start? I am still operating “Wood by Design” Custom Woodworking out of my house in Shawnee, KS. I’ve been doing that for the last eleven years. I keep fairly busy but not too busy that I can’t enjoy life. My 19 year old daughter just finished her first year of college at Boston University. She is studying psychology for some reason. Maybe she is trying to figure out why her dad is like he is. My 16 year old son is a sophomore at Shawnee Mission Northwest High School. He just got his Boy Scout Eagle rank and is working on getting his drivers license (Oh joy!). He and I enjoy going to Boy Scout High Adventures together. We have been to Rocky Mountain High Adventure (2007) in Colorado, Sea Base High Adventure (2008) in Florida, and the Boundary Waters High Adventure (2009) in Minnesota.  I seem to always be the oldest dad at all these outings. My wonderful wife of twenty one and a half years, Jane, still puts up with me for some reason. I don’t know why? She retired in 2008 from Embarq and is working as a contractor doing computer work. I still race motorcycles and drive my little green British sports car around. I stopped aging about 30 years ago but my body didn’t. I don’t bounce back like I used to. Of course breaking my shoulder in a motorcycle event in 2008 didn’t help much. It is great seeing all you “old” people. I hope you’re still around for the next reunion.

This is a big year for me and my family. In addition to celebrating this graduation, my husband, David and I, are celebrating our 40th anniversary. My husband retired from Hickman Mills School District. This concluded a career of teaching 20 years in Kansas and 20 years in Missouri. I also retired from teaching in the Independence School District with the last 11 years at Ott Elementary. This summer we are moving to Portland, Oregon to be near our youngest daughter, Lynnae, her husband, and our granddaughter, Hazel. Our other daughter, Kristen, lives in San Francisco, and is getting married on September 12th in Hawaii. If we can survive this summer, our new address will be 11395 NE Sacramento St., Portland, OR.

Life is pretty much the same as it was when the last reunion took place – still trying to figure out what I want in life! Some of the important things in my life are definitely family and friends and I am really grateful for recently developed friendships while working on the reunion committee. I still work at the same construction company and also prepare taxes for H&R Block during tax season. Not thinking about retirement at all. I have started running again and did the Dallas White River Half Marathon in December of last year and plan on doing the PF Chang’s Rock & Roll Half Marathon in San Antonio this November. I also enjoy traveling and since the last reunion have been to Italy, Spain and the Greek Isles.  Would love to continue traveling and see much more of the world!

My husband, Mike, and I moved to College Station, TX about 2 ½ years ago to be closer to our three granddaughters. Mike had been in the telecom industry for 25+ years, but after his second layoff, we decided to make the move. I am working at the City of Bryan Library and really enjoy the people I work with and meeting the public. Mike is an assistant manager at one of the O’Reilly’s Auto Parts stores in Bryan. Our son, Michael, and family live here with their three girls. Our daughter, Cari, now lives in Roundrock, TX and works as a case manager for the Texas Baptist Children’s Home there.  We were in Independence the last weekend of June for our family reunions (mine and Mike’s), so I won’t be able to attend the reunion coming up, though I would love to see everyone.

In the 40 years since graduation my life has been continuously blessed in so many ways. My wife (Pam) and I will celebrate our 37th wedding anniversary in August. After spending most of our lives in Independence, we moved to a small farm near Garden City, MO in 2000 in anticipation of my retirement. I began farming (raising cattle and producing vegetables to sell) in order to have a supplement to my pending pension. In 2006, I retired from the U.S. Department of Agriculture after 32 years of service as a Marketing Specialist. I bought and sold agricultural commodities (primarily cotton and rice) for government programs to be used domestically and distributed overseas. Pam and I raised our two daughters (Kathy and Julie) in Independence with both graduating from WCHS in 1996 and 2000. Kathy is an Occupational therapist working out of Higginsville and Julie is a math teacher in Grain Valley. Julie gave us our first grandchild in 2008 which has added a great amount of joy to our lives. Rural life has provided us with many blessings. We have five wonderful neighbors on our (2 mile) road, we attend a loving and supporting rural community church, and we have the finest group of farming friends a person could ever wish for. Retirement is providing the life I envisioned with plenty of opportunities to hunt and fish at my leisure. While life has dealt us our share of trials and tribulations, the good far outweighs the bad and there is so much I am truly thankful for.

Love has always been important to me in my life. I love my husband, Bert, of 20 years, my job of 26 years, my squadron of girlfriends, and my precious dog, Bocephus. Though I never had children of my own, I’m blessed with two grandchildren – Mason, 7 and Maddy, 5.  Hope to see you at the next reunion!

My family is most important.  All the kids have worked hard in school and have had success in school and their chosen professions.  Kathy (WC’79) received her graduate degree in social work after most of the kids had graduated from college, what a hard worker she has been.  I work with great people at Kessinger Hunter, a commercial real estate firm, and have enjoyed my years in commercial property management.

I met Bob, the love of my life, 20 years ago at the Bent Oak Golf Club in Oak Grove. Bob and I have been married 9 years now. We still golf occasionally as we both love the outdoors and the game. I have a granddaughter, Jada, 8 years old and a grandson, Jacob, 6 years old. Bob has 4 grandchildren. Our families and grandchildren are truly the biggest joy of our lives. Bob and I still enjoy dancing at least 2 times a month. We love trips to the lake and antique shopping, working in the yard and movies. I’ve been in Real Estate the last 30 years but basically to purchase property to rehab and sell. We do most of the work ourselves and find it very rewarding. I’ve also been a server for the lat 30 years and have been working at the Isle of Capri the last 8 years. For the last year I have been cocktailing at the casino and helping to run the VIP lounge. Best wishes to all my friends.

Important things in my life would have to be a wonderful loving husband, and two beautiful golden retrievers. My son is grown and a Dr. of Pharmacy at Truman Medical Center. I am very proud of him. Other than that, LIFE IS GOOD!
